New to plating? Start simple: clean well, plate at a steady current, and rinse right after. Small, consistent steps give the best finish.

ProblemLikely CauseQuick Fix
Dull / gray finishNot clean enough or current too lowRe-clean the part and raise the current a little.
Burnt / rough edgesCurrent too highLower the current and keep parts farther from the anode.
Tiny pits / bubblesOil or air on the surfaceWash again, pre-wet the part, add gentle agitation.
PeelingOxide layer or poor contactLightly scuff, clean again, and plate immediately.
Uneven coverageParts not facing the anodeRotate the part or reposition anodes for even exposure.

Prep Is Everything

Clean, degrease, and lightly scuff. Any oil or oxide will dull the finish. Rinse thoroughly before plating.

Dial In Your Current

Start low and increase slowly. Too much current burns the edges; too little looks dull.

Temperature & Agitation

Warm solution and gentle movement improve brightness and coverage. Use a small pump or move the part gently.

Rinse & Protect

Rinse in clean water and dry quickly. A light polish can boost shine without removing much thickness.

FAQ

How fast do orders ship?

Most orders ship out within 1–2 business days. If you need a rush, call or text and we will do our best.

What metals can I plate?

Nickel plates well on steel, copper, brass, and many conductive alloys. Proper cleaning and prep are critical.

Do I need a power supply?

Electroplating solutions require a DC power supply. Electroless nickel does not, but it does require heat.

Can you help me choose?

Yes. Call or text and tell us your part size, metal type, and finish goal.
