Surface preparation and bath care
Reliable adhesion begins before the part enters the bath. Remove oil, grease, polishing compound, oxide, scale, and fingerprints. Rinse thoroughly between preparation steps, activate the cleaned surface with the process appropriate for the base metal, and begin plating promptly after the final rinse. Avoid touching the active surface. A water-break-free rinse and a same-material test coupon can help confirm that the preparation sequence is working.
Maintain the nickel plating bath by following the supplied product instructions for temperature, pH, current, agitation, filtration, and brightener additions. Keep tanks, tools, rinse water, and work free from contamination. Record bath use and make small, measured corrections rather than unverified additions.
